A PROMISE OF GOODNESS

First day of 2026 and I didn't even have to wait until the end of the day to think of what I would add to my Jar of Goodness. As I pulled out of my garage this morning to head over to my first dance class of the new year, what do I see? A rainbow!

What started out as another gloomy, raining day, quickly turned into a promise.
I always take rainbows as good omens and delight in them whenever I see one. It probably has a lot to do with the fact that I get S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder) during the rainy season and a rainbow often signifies the end of a rainstorm. Or at least a break.
If you want to get all biblical about it, a rainbow is a symbol of God's promise that all will be well and as a child the story of Noah's Ark was always one of my favorites. So much so that when I was pregnant with Aaron, I decorated his nursery in a Noah's Ark theme and painted a mural on one of the walls.

I loved the combination of the rescuing of all the animals and the magical appearance of a rainbow. I think it's safe to say that regardless of your spiritual/religious leanings (or lack thereof), a rainbow can't help but feel like a wonderful gift from nature. No wonder they captivate both young and old alike.
So, here's to the promise of 2026! May this morning's rainbow be a harbinger of good things to come. Can I get an Amen?!

Amen sister!
