YAY FOR BOOK CLUBS!

Back in March of 2017 I attended my mother-in-law's book club in San Diego along with my sister-in-law. About six months earlier, while we were on vacation in Maui, my sister-in-law was reading a novel she thoroughly enjoyed and handed it down to me when she was finished.

The novel was A Fall of Marigolds by Susan Meissner. For the remainder of that vacation I COULD NOT PUT THAT BOOK DOWN. So, getting to meet the author at that book club meeting was super exciting and I felt like a complete fangirl, with so many sticky notes throughout the entire book, even she was impressed.

One of the things I loved so much about the story was that it takes place in one of my favorite cities (New York), and since I had just been to New York with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law earlier that year, it felt especially poignant. It also employed the convention of intertwining two stories - one taking place in the present, and the other in a past era. All of Susan's novels use this technique. The first time I read a novel with this approach was in Jr. high school and that type of storytelling has captivated me ever since. When I began writing my first novel, HIGH WATER, Susan and other authors like her greatly inspired my story building.
This morning my sweet friend, Corinna, informed me that her mom's book club has just selected HIGH WATER for their next read and have invited me to attend their club meeting. I am so thrilled and honored!

So looking forward to having you join our book club next month! Thank you, thank you 🙏🏼
