I GOT AN IDEA!

I was listening to a podcast today with a guest who is a very popular and successful narrator of audiobooks. She described how she created her own audiobook recording company, inspired by the inequity in this business of not allowing narrators to receive royalties for their work. Authors and publishing companies receive compensation, so why not narrators. It is acting, after all. Like any other kind of acting, it requires TALENT and TIME.

She went on to say that her goal is to someday change this status quo and mentioned that at some point in the near future she would accept work from other sources to promote and distribute on her platform. My ears immediately pricked up. "Me, me, me!" I wanted to shout. (But I was on my morning run and didn't want to appear like a lunatic.)

How cool would it be to have the option of distributing my audiobooks on a different platform than the usual BIG corporate entity? But more importantly, to have my talented troupe of narrators for JOURNEYS receive royalties! In addition, she described how one of the current trends in audiobooks is multiple casting. Ha! That's exactly what my book offers!

Once again, I am on the cutting edge and didn't even know it.
